CBD Oil in Oklahoma (2024)

CBD Oil in Oklahoma (2019 Update)

Oklahoma has a number of legislative characteristics that make it stand out in America, especially when it comes to CBD. In fact, it passed a Governor’s bill back in 2015 that said anyone who suffered from epilepsy could have access to this natural remedy. This was then updated in 2016 which extended the use of CBD oil to many more patients and a much longer list of health conditions.

As we stand in 2019, there are currently ten states who have legalized marijuana completely, both for medicinal and recreational purposes. Furthermore, there are twenty-one states where CBD is legal for medicinal use, with a prescription. However, while these states may have legalized CBD, this doesn’t mean that the legislation around its use is the same in every one.

This means that currently there is no law that states CBD oil is legal for patients who don’t qualify under the 2015 and 2016 Governor bills. However, it does appear to be one of the states that ‘tolerates’ the growth, possession, and use of CBD – but it can’t be psychoactive.

Oklahoma also has just recently brought through a medical marijuana program which allows patients to purchase CBD from licensed dispensaries, and what’s more, CBD that’s made from cannabis. CBD from cannabis is slightly more popular for some because it contains a higher level of THC than CBD that’s made from hemp.

We’re getting through 2019, and the Oklahoma medical marijuana program is a booming success. However, if you’re a resident of Oklahoma and you don’t qualify for CBD, and you’re wondering how to get your hands on some, there are a variety of options still available.

Later on, we’ll talk about this but before that let’s discuss what CBD oil is and how it can be beneficial to your health.

What Exactly is CBD Oil?

CBD Oil

CBD is an active cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant that doesn’t get you high. This is one of the first and most important things to know about CBD – unlike THC, another cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant, it can’t get you high because it doesn’t contain any psychoactive properties. Believe it or not, there are over eight cannabinoids that can be found in the cannabis plant.

When thinking about CBD from a medical point of view, there is some promising evidence that is both current and forthcoming. Hemp has higher concentrations of CBD than cannabis, which is why CBD made from hemp is a better option if you’re wanting the health kick without the high.

There are many people out there that point to CBD for helping them sleep better, as well as a whole host of other health benefits. There are also studies out there that point to CBD as an anti-inflammatory, an antipsychotic and an anti-pain treatment. However because clinical trials are still so limited around these conditions, there is a lot more that needs to be done for CBD to be approved by the FDA.

The most common way to take CBD is in oil form. As a result, the CBD oil industry has exploded over the last few years, and as a result, there are now many health benefits that can be linked to it. To say that there is a bit of hype around the CBD oil movement is definitely an under-exaggeration.

CBD helps your body by interacting directly with your endocannabinoid system. Your body’s endocannabinoid system is known for being able to regulate your mood, keep your appetite in order and even maintain a healthy immune system. CBD oil interacts directly with the receptors of your endocannabinoid system, which ultimately means it encourages your body to produce more of what it already does.

When you smoke or take THC, it attaches itself to similar receptors – however, these ones are found in your brain.

What’s also important to mention at this point, though, is that CBD does have a few side effects. For this reason, it’s highly recommended that you consult with your healthcare professional before deciding to try it for yourself. However, compared to the side effects that come with most prescription drugs, these side effects are minimal.

It’s also worth noting that CBD is available in many different forms and concentrations. For this reason, it’s important to remember that while one CBD product may help someone with their condition, it may not be appropriate for yours.

While Oklahoman lawmakers continue to figure out the confusing medical marijuana legislation that’s currently in place, it’s encouraging to know that CBD oil is available in Oklahoma to those who really need it.
